CFNRV awards grants to 54 nonprofits

CHRISTIANSBURG — Community Foundation of the New River Valley (CFNRV) has awarded $157,645 in grants to 54 nonprofit agencies, most of which provide service in Pulaski County.

The funds, provided by the Foundation’s Responsive Grant Program, typically are awarded for general operations and specific community projects. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CFNRV Board of Directors voted to award only operational support this year, thus allowing agencies flexibility to use the funds where they are most needed.

Also this year, the Responsive Grant funding included almost $10,000 donated by the general public through the first-time opening of CFNRV’s grant catalog [of applying agencies] for online contributions from the public.

This year “has been a challenging year for many nonprofit organizations in the New River Valley. I am proud that CFNRV could make changes quickly to our grant programs to better serve our community,” said Executive Director Jessica Wirgau.
