Sunshine Tours joins Rolling for Awareness

Nearly 1000 buses from every state in the country came to Washington D.C. this past Wednesday for the Rolling for Awareness Rally. The rally was organized by the American Bus Association and the United Motorcoach Association with the goal of urging congress to provide $15 billion worth of grants/loans to support their industry.

Among those present was Pulaski County’s own motor coach company, Dublin based Sunshine Tours. Owners Paul Nestor and Linda Taylor rode to Washington for the event, along with a few Sunshine Tour employees, including Tour Coordinator Kendra Flinchum.

“It was actually really amazing,” said Flinchum. “We all staged at a specific lot on the outskirts of the city and then we were given a police escort into the city. They shut down the roads for us to come in. Everything was really nice. We we wanted to make a statement but we didn’t want to be a nuisance.”

Sunshine Tours stopped all operations March 20 and has canceled tours through the end of June. As a result, 80 part-time and full-time workers have been laid off at the company.
