Concord University has been a home away from home for many Cougar athletes throughout the years. That connection continued to grow stronger Thursday with the announcement that Cougar cross country and track standout Shaun King will join the Mountain Lion program as a part of the 2019 recruiting class.

King was a hard worker for the Cougars throughout his career and found success in the 500-meter, 800-meter and 1600-meter races. During his career at PCHS, King recorded at least one 800-meter race under two minutes (1:59.20) and a personal best time of 4:42.65 in the 1,600-meter race. His best time in the 5,000-meter cross country race was a time of 17:11.

As a high school junior, King qualified for the state cross country and indoor track meets before adding the outdoor championships to his resume. During his senior season he repeated that, finishing fifth in the Group 4A 500-meter race and 11th in the regional cross country meet.

Concord University is a member of the Mountain East Conference. The cross country team is coached by Head Coach Mike Cox and assistant coach R.J. Anderson.
