A June walk is planned in Pulaski to draw attention to the issue of veteran suicides.

James Ridpath says AMVET Post 50 is organizing a “Project 22 Walk” for June 22, 9 a.m. to noon. He told Pulaski Town Council the purpose of the walk is to draw attention to the 22 veterans who commit suicide every day. “Now, it’s more like 30,” he added.

Participants will start the walk at Pulaski Train Station and proceed to Cool Springs on Dora Highway, where they can “do 22 push-ups if they fell like it.”

There will be a guest speaker and one of Volvo’s tractor’s decorated with military art will be on display.

Ridpath requested town council’s “blessing” to hold the walk.

Council gave its blessing, calling it “very worthy” and “a good idea.
