NRCC’s first CEO honored with endowed scholarship

The man who served as chief executive officer of New River Community College until its first president was hired has an endowed scholarship created in his honor.

Dr. Doug Warren’s family recently announced the creation of the Dr. Douglas D. Warren Endowed Scholarship during a special gathering at the Dublin campus.

Warren began his career with the college when it was New River Vocational-Technical School. He led the transition to NRCC in 1969, serving as CEO until the president, Dr. W. Robert Sullins, was hired in December of that year.

During his 35 years with the college, Warren served as chairman of the division of engineering technologies, dean of academic and student services, and dean of financial and administrative services. He retired in 1996.
