In doubles action the team of Madeleine Hyduke and Covey lost 4-8 in the top seeded match. The team of Ella Hyduke and Lytton won the second seed match 8-1. Meeks and Brooke Sutherland won the three seed match 8-3.

“Tonight was a great win for us,” Lady Cougar Head Coach Brandon Lawson said. “We played and executed well today. The team continues to show they are in it to compete and win. I know there are still a lot of matches left this season to play, but this team is a feisty group and each day I feel confident in our abilities to come out with the win.”

While Lawson was pleased with the win, he was even more pleased with the way his team has picked each other up in tough times.

“Allyson Castle picked up her first singles victory today,” he said. “She was filling in for Brooke Sutherland, who wasn’t able to play in the singles portion of the match.”

The Lady Cougars were scheduled to host Blacksburg Friday before traveling to Roanoke Tuesday, April 10, to face Patrick Henry. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
