Brownfields team finds unique stash

“The beauty of brownfields grants is that they get a lot of the unknowns out of the way and calm a lot of fears to help expedite redevelopment or be a jump starter.

That was the message Pulaski Town Manager Shawn Utt had for officials attending a brownfields summit in Pulaski last week. To get the message across, he shared a startling, but ultimately funny, experience the brownsfield team in Pulaski had early in its program.

Utt said one of the first buildings the town evaluated for contaminants with its brownfields funds was the old Jefferson Elementary School property.
