More than 400 electric customers, many commercial, were left without power Tuesday morning when a utility pole was broken during a wreck.

Dublin Police Officer G.W. Seagraves witnessed the 11:10 a.m. wreck at the intersection of Broad Street (Route 11) and Trinkle Avenue. In fact, he said the vehicle nearly struck his patrol car.

According to Seagraves, a 2011 Honda CRV driven by a female was northbound on Route 11 when it suddenly crossed both southbound lanes and struck the pole, which was “snapped off.”

The driver was uninjured, but was being transported by family to be checked medically since a medical issue may have prompted the wreck.

The officer declined to identify the woman.

According to American Electric Power, 439 customers were affected by the power outage. Electricity was to be restored by 3 p.m.
