PCHS drama team takes top honors

Pulaski County High School students, who performed in “You Don’t Know Jack” for the Virginia High School League’s One Act Competition, took top honors Tuesday.

Pulaski County High School students’ performance of “You Don’t Know Jack” led them to the Division 4 One Act Festival title in the state competition Tuesday. It was the fourth One Act win for PCHS, and the school’s third one under Jeff McCoy.

The Virginia High School League’s annual one act competition garnered the high school’s first win in 1994, under the directorship of Rhonda Welch. The next year, Jeff McCoy became the schools’ theatre arts director.

In 2002, McCoy’s one act production took the state division title for “The Lady of the Lake and Other British Tales,” an original absurdist tale written by Preston Martin. The second win came in 2006 with “The Other Side of the Story,” an original musical written by McCoy about fairy tale characters.
