One of the more common needs of the medic are to administer intravenous solution in the field to soldiers dehydrated from long movements and training.

Job training for a health care specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in-patient care.  PV2 Rupe will attend  basic training at Fort Jackson, SC.  His Advanced Individual Training will be for Fort Sam Houston, TX.

As a part of his enlistment, PV2 Rupe will take part in the Reserve GI Bill, which pays $375 per month towards his college while not in training, along with a GI Bill kicker, which adds an additional $200 per month.  PV2 Rupe also qualified for and will receive a $30,000 student loan repayment plan.
