A Pulaski County man sustained serious injuries Saturday when his Harley Davidson motorcycle struck a pickup truck police say failed to yield to the bike.

According to Lt. D.R. Johnson with Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy Bentley was southbound on Route 100 when a Ford pickup truck driven by William Hinkle Jr. entered his path. Hinkle had been northbound on Route 100 and was attempting to make a left turn onto Newbern Road, he said.

Johnson said Bentley, from Dublin, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was listed in critical condition Tuesday morning.

Hinkle was charged with failure to yield the right of way in the 8:55 a.m. wreck.

Johnson expressed gratitude to REMSI, Newbern Fire Department, Dublin Police Department and Lifeguard helicopter for assisting Deputy Helton with the incident.
