Book Buddies grant prompts incentives



A grant is allowing Pulaski County Library System to add incentives for participation in its Book Buddies program, which improves literacy skills by bringing older and younger children together.

Jena Hardy, youth services librarian, said the library partnered with Community Housing Partners to apply for the grant through C.E. Richardson Benevolent Foundation. Stacy Taylor with CHP wrote the grant, which was approved in the amount of $2,985.

Book Buddies pairs middle and high school students, ages 12 and older, with children ages 4-8, for weekly meetings that include reading and an activity. The youth meet at Pulaski Library over an eight-week session.
