Police investigate body found in yard

The Pulaski Police Department is currently investigating a dead body found Friday afternoon at a property at 611 Ridge Ave. in Pulaski.

Officers found the body of a man lying in the yard adjacent to the right rear of the house when they arrived at the scene, according to Sgt. Jill Neice with the Pulaski Police Department. It had been discovered earlier by a man weed-eating the property, who called the Pulaski County Emergency Communications Center at 1:54 p.m.

Officers secured the location and covered the body due to inclement weather.

According to Capt. Anthony Meredith, residents of the property did not know the deceased. He was unable to comment on the race and age of the body found, or how long it had been there before it was found.

“That’s pretty much all we have,” Meredith said at the scene. “We’re gonna work the scene; hopefully we’ve covered up the immediate crime scene to protect it from the elements.”

The Medical Examiner’s Office has been contacted, and there is no other information available at this point, Neice said.

More information about the investigation will be released as it becomes available.
