Cory Alan Newman and Alicia Marie Gustafson

Engagement announcementMark and Sue Newman of Pulaski are happy to announce the engagement of their son, Cory Alan Newman, to Dr. Alicia Marie Gustafson, daughter of Rebecca Koster and Richard Lahr of Paynesville, Minn., and Clark and Jan Gustafson of Litchfield, Minn.

Alicia is the granddaughter of Ron and Merle Gustafson of La Crosse, Wis., and Robert and Nancy Koster of Grove City, Minn., and also the late Janet Cashel, her maternal grandmother. She is a graduate of Litchfield High School in Litchfield, Minn., and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from The College of St. Scholastica in 2007. Alicia received her Doctor of Osteopathy from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. She is currently a third-year resident at Virginia Commonwealth University-Riverside in Newport News. Her sports medicine fellowship will start in July 2015 at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Cory is the grandson of Jean Newman and the late Jack Newman, and the late Donald and Mary Quesenberry, all of Pulaski. He is a graduate of Pulaski County High School, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise from Virginia Tech in 2002. Cory received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Duke University in 2005. He received his Orthopedic Specialist certification in 2008 from the American Physical Therapy Association. Cory is currently employed with Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group in Newport News.

Congratulations and warm wishes are sent to this special couple. A June 5 wedding is planned in Norfolk at the Chrysler Museum of Art.
