Pulaski man killed in crash

A 32-year-old Pulaski man died Thursday night when the pickup truck in which he was riding overturned, partially ejecting him. The driver has been charged with intoxicated driving, according to police.

Robert Lee Gibson was a passenger in a 1981 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Bruce E. Peckham II, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jeff Saunders said. The 10:16 p.m. single-vehicle wreck occurred on a dirt road in the area of Gatewood dam.

According to Saunders, the truck struck a bank and rolled, partially ejecting Gibson, who died at the scene. Two other passengers, Joshua B. Arehart, 25, and Katlyn M. Byrd, 19, both of Pulaski, were not injured.

Saunders said Peckham, 31, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

An investigation into the wreck is continuing by Deputy J. Reece and members of the Pulaski County Regional Crash Investigation Team.
