Snowville man accused of father’s murder

A Snowville man has been charged with first-degree murder in the Wednesday death of his father.

The suspect, Gernie Grayson Boothe Jr., 33, was arrested at his home on Dallas Freeman Road in Snowville after Pulaski County deputies arrived at the residence in response to reports of gunfire. When the deputies arrived, they found a man in the living room, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as the suspect’s father, Gernie Grayson Boothe Sr., 67, Pulaski County Sheriff Jim Davis said in a news release.

Gernie Boothe Jr. was taken into custody at the scene and is being held without bond at New River Valley Regional Jail. The deceased’s body was transported to Roanoke Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Sheriff’s investigators recovered several weapons at the home, and believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, according to Davis. He said the father and son shared the home.

REMSI assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene. The investigation is continuing.
