Bertie Talbert

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Bertie Talbert was called home on the evening of June 6, 2014 at the family residence in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bertie was born on Sept. 22, 1928 in Cleveland, Va. to parents Thurman and Carrie Cook. They later moved to Pulaski, Va. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor, her generous and gentle nature, for being a loving mother, a doting grandmother, a true friend who was always there for you, and a devoted child of God. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. She also loved playing bingo and caring for her cherished feline friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, William Stanley; parents; brother, Joseph (Sybil) Cook; granddaughter, Kari Anne Sherman; and her son-in-law, Tony Sherman.

Bertie will be greatly missed by her two loving daughters, Betty Silvas and Jennifer Sherman; son, Tim (Angie) Talbert; son-in-law, Larry Silvas; sister, Linda Hansen; nephews, Marc and Eric; two granddaughters, Melissa Carter, Krista Sherman, and her best friend, Evelyn Edmundson.

Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11 at the Corpus Christi Cathedral with Entombment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Special thanks go out to her wonderful caregivers, Carmen Martinez and Concha Regino, who lovingly cared for her for so many years, along with Angela, Connie, Shannon, Bill, Carolyn, Kim, and all the dedicated workers at Gerling and Odyssey Hospice.

    We are so sorry for your loss. We rememeber “Cookie” growing up at Pleasant Hill Apts. We have very fond memories of Cookie and her family. Her obituary is so perfect describing her to a tee. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the family. We think about all of you often.

    Dearest Edie, I am still in TX with Betty. Thank you so much for your kind words! Mom loved each of you so much and also had many fond memories of Pleasant Hill.
