Radford sex offender arrested after walking into elementary school




A registered violent sex offender walked right into a secure-entry doorway of McHarg Elementary in Radford Thursday morning.

Two school resource officers arrested Henry Alexander Lindsey Jr., 55, without incident around 11:15 a.m. in the front school parking lot, and escorted the man off grounds. According to a release from the Radford City Police Department, appropriate school personnel were notified of the incident, there was no disruption to the school routine.

Police found illegal narcotics on Linsdey at the time of the arrest. He was then taken before the magistrate where warrants were issued for being on school property as a violent sex offender, as well as possession of Schedule III narcotic.

Lindsey is currently being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.

According to Radford City Police Public Information Officer Jenni Wilder, Lindsey entered the school behind the parent of a student as the door was open. McHarg, along with most other regional schools, have a controlled entry system, in which visitors are buzzed in via intercom.

He then entered the front office, where se stayed for several minutes before his arrest.

Lindsey was convicted of rape in June 1991. The victim was an adult.

    Every Sex offender in the country KNOWS SCHOOLS are off Limits. This freak was testing the waters “security” to find “weaknesses” that he could exploit. They need to hand this guy his head and let him walk around with it in a 5×7 for the rest of his life.
