PCHS students get an lesson in personal finance




With graduation just around the corner, and the realities of adult life looming on the horizon, a guide to budgeting and retirement saving can be a crucial tool for high school seniors about to start their adult lives.

Students in Brad Whitehead’s marketing classes at Pulaski County High School had the opportunity to learn about the values of saving yesterday morning. Keith Weltens and Mark Tapp, who work as financial advisors for Ameriprise Financial’s Radford office came in to share some of those tips on how to prepare for their future.

According to Weltens, he and Tapp have been going around to local schools recently, including Radford University, New River Community College, and both Radford City and Pulaski County High Schools to share that advice. As personal finance has been recently implemented in the curriculum at PCHS, Weltens said that they intend to help the students get more out of it from a more interesting angle.
