Local fire departments fight early Monday morning blazes

Firefighters were dispatched early Monday morning to extinguish flames reported in two separate incidents in Pulaski County.

The Jefferson Yarns warehouse on Valley St. caught fire early Monday morning, May 19, with firefighters responding around 2:45 a.m. Fire crews reported heavy smoke coming from the building as they arrived, and the factory’s sprinkler system activated, which helped control the blaze, according to Pulaski Fire Chief Bill Webb.

According to Webb, the fire was under control by 4:30 a.m., and the Pulaski Fire Department (PFD) was back in service by 6:30 a.m. Wooden pallets in the building suffered a majority of the damage, said Webb.
