Hospital announces April 2014 winner of Service Excellence Award

LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski announced that Sheila Ayotte, CNA, was recently selected as the Service Excellence Employee of the Month for April.

According to LewisGale Marketing Communications Manager Joy Sutton, the award recognizes outstanding employees who demonstrate service excellence beyond their job description.

Ayotte started her career at LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski in 2008, and currently serves as the Unit Clerk for the Medical Surgical Department. Her nomination was based on the exceptional care she provided to a patient during her recent stay.

When Ayotte learned the patient had some concerns, she immediately stepped into action to make her feel better. She offered to give the patient a bath and even washed her hair.

The patient stated that this simple act made her feel 100 percent better.

“Sheila is a great asset to our department,” said Michelle Quesenberry, director of MedSurg and SNF.  “I can depend on Sheila to deliver high-quality professional service to our patients and families in our unit. I am very happy that Sheila was selected as this month’s Service Excellence Award winner.”

The Service Excellence Employee of the Month is selected using a set of criteria, including demonstrating exemplary individual achievement, contribution and performance in their jobs and other related duties beyond their own job description.

Those employees also inspire and support the organization’s ICARE Values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. They demonstrate a positive attitude toward responsibilities, co-workers, and customers, and serves as a role model for others.


Service excellence employees also exercise servant leadership, take initiative, and accept and carry out additional responsibilities beyond the regular job assignments for the good of the organization.


LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski also congratulated the other individuals who were nominated for the April Service Excellence Employee of the Month Award, including Sandy Duty, Dietary and Anne Reau, executive assistant to CEO Mark Nichols.
