Handgun safety class slated for April

New River Community College will offer a two-night handgun safety class in April, with the opportunity to also spend some time on a firing range.

The six-hour classroom portion of the course, to be held 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 17, is required to complete the class. However, participants also will have the option for range time on the Saturday following the classroom training.

Instructor Joey Williams will cover topics including the nomenclature of a revolver and/or semi-automatic handgun and how to care for, store and maintain handguns. The course is intended for those applying to the court for a handgun permit.

The course costs $60. Classes meet in room 206 of Edwards Hall on the Dublin campus. To register, contact NRCC Office of Workforce Development at 540-674-3600, ext. 4323.
