Dublin town council discusses mental health law, honors employees




Thursday night’s Dublin town council meeting started out with a report from Dublin Police Chief Dennis Lambert, in which he discussed a change in hours for the mental health law.

According to Lambert, the law is going to change from four hours with a two-hour extension to 12 hours, which will be potentially effective July 1. Lambert also said this was a decrease from the original proposition of a 24-hour period in which officers will monitor an individual with a mental illness, and will inevitably incur some expenses from the police department.
