MTM Inc. announces 66 new jobs in Pulaski

MTM, Inc. (Medical Transportation Management) announced today that they will invest over $1.0 million to expand their operation in downtown Pulaski.

According to a news release from the New River Valley Economic Development Alliance (NRVEDA), the project will create 66 new jobs and expand their space from 7,500 sq. ft. in the Maple Shade Plaza to just over 12,000 sq. ft. The company will have over 140 employees working in downtown Pulaski upon the completion of the expansion.

Speaking about today’s announcement, Governor Bob McDonnell praised MTM as a strong corporate citizen and employer in Pulaski since their center was established in 2002.

“With this expansion project, we are thrilled to see the company continue to grow and thrive,” said McDonnell. “MTM provides an invaluable service that will continue to be in demand, and the addition of more than 4,500 square feet of facility space and 66 new jobs is a great testament to the company’s success.”

MTM was founded in 1995 by Peg and Lynn Griswold, building on the need for centralized management of non-emergent medical transportation. Specifically, they realized the difficulty health plans and government organizations had in arranging transportation services.

The Griswolds were determined to develop a company that would ensure more people had access to health care. According to the release, MTM quickly set industry standards and is now one of the largest and most established managers of non-emergent transportation services.

According to MTM President and CEO Alaina Maciá, the company was very pleased to expand their call center in Pulaski.

“We are committed to a continuous investment in the people and economy of Pulaski and look forward to remaining an active member of the community in the future,” said Maciá.

The NRVEDA worked with Pulaski County, the Town of Pulaski, and the Virginia Department of Business Assistance to secure the project for Virginia. The company is eligible to receive benefits from the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program, administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.

Through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide funding and services to support the company’s recruitment and training activities.

Speaking on behalf of Pulaski County and its Industrial Development Authority, Board of Supervisors Chairman, Joe Sheffey pointed out MTM’s strong business presence in Pulaski.

“MTM is a pleasure to work with, an outstanding company, and we look forward to continuing a long relationship with them in downtown Pulaski,” said Sheffey. “I want to thank the county staff who worked with MTM to make this expansion a reality.”

Mayor Jeff Worrell of the Town of Pulaski also congratulated all those who had a hand in making the project a success.

“We are so proud of the service MTM provides their clients, and their employees’ excellence is a strong reason this expansion took place in our community,” said Worrell.
