DOSWELL – Virginia State Fair will memorialize late Virginia State Trooper Andrew D. Fox with a plaque dedication ceremony to be held in Doswell Oct. 3.

The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. in the Meadow Hall ballroom at The Meadow Event Park, where Fox was struck by a vehicle and killed Oct. 5, 2012 while directing traffic leaving the fair. Fox was assigned to Pulaski County, but was on special assignment at the time of his death.

According to state fair officials, Fox’s memory will be honored with a plaque that will be mounted outside the Public Safety Operations Center at The Meadow Event Park. A second plaque will be mounted inside the building.

“State and local law enforcement officers like Trooper Fox play an absolutely essential role in the State Fair, and we felt it was important to honor Trooper Fox’s memory and commemorate his service,” said Jeff Dillon, the fair’s president.

I am so happy to see this dedication to Trooper Fox. It was such a tragic event; senseless, and one for which his family will grieve the rest of their lives. I met his family after the tragedy and pray for them daily. May they find strength knowing that he is with the Father.
