Richard Lee “Dick” Hayes Sr.

Richard Lee “Dick” Hayes Sr., age 77 of Draper passed away Monday, July 1, 2013.

Born Feb. 6, 1936 in Sophia, W.Va., he is the son of the late Lonnie Hayes and Celia Haga Hayes. His wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Denny Hayes; brother, Jack Hayes; sister, Lillian Hayes Moore, and one granddaughter, Alena Ann Hayes, also preceded him in death.

He was retired from RAAP with 17 years of service as an electric shop foreman.

He is survived by “his boys,” Dickie, Marty, Chucky and Stevie; sons and daughters-in-law, Dickie and Pam Hayes of Dublin, Marty and Irene Hayes of Alabaster, Ala., Chuck and Lesa Hayes of Pulaski, and Steve Hayes of Broomfield, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Mamie Street, D.J. Mueller, Philip Hayes, Brooks Hayes, Jason Hayes and wife, Holly, Matthew Hayes, Michael Edwards, and Leif Hayes; six great-granchildren, Kayla, Carly, Colin, Caden, Milia and Jake; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Garnett Hayes of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and Bruce and Barbara Hayes, of Midlothian; many nieces, nephews, family and friends, and a special friend, Aloma Long, of Pulaski.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 11 a.m. at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, with Pastor Willie Overton officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.

The family will be meeting at the home of Dickie and Pam Hayes, 5320 Cougar Circle, Dublin, VA 24084.

    Sorry to hear of the passing of Mr.Hayes. He was a kind and caring person. May God wrap His arms of comfort and peace around each family member. We will have all the family in our thoughts and prayers.

    We were so sorry to hear of Uncle Dick’s passing. He was one of the good guys. We’ll miss hearing his Orioles & Colts stories from his days in Baltimore.
