Shirley Cook Duncan Thomas

Shirley Cook Duncan Thomas, 81 of Dublin, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 in the LewisGale Hospital-Pulaski.  She was born in Virginia Nov. 3, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Fred Sidney Cook and Minnie Jones Cook.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Franklin Thomas, a brother and sisters.  She was a retired employee of AT&T. 

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon T. and Steve Miller, Sandy and Billy Patterson, and Missy Thomas; sisters, Mildred Malasky, Jewel Hill and Betty Hill; brother, Billy Cook; grandchildren, Brian Rupe, B.J. Patterson, Jessica Pisculli, Eve Walters, Brandon Walters, and Albert Walters; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Rupe, Bradley Rupe, Bryson Rupe, Jovani Pisculli, and Macie Patterson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4 at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Coleman officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  Visiting will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

    I am so sorry to hear that your mother passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. May God grant you comfort, peace, and strength. Know that she is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. What an Easter celebration your mother had!!!

    Missy, I am so sorry to hear that your mom passed away! I have so many fond memories of us as kids at your house! Your mom was one of the sweetest ladies I had ever met! One thing I will never forget about her was her awesome macaroni and cheese! Still to this day I’ve never figured out how she made it so dang good! Heaven truly got an angel, so I hope you and your kids find some comfort in that! Love ya girl, hang in there:)
