Rayo Claudius Holston

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – Mr. Rayo Claudius Holston, 79, died Friday, April 12, 2013. Rayo was born on March 24, 1934 in Pulaski County to the late Christopher Howe and Mary Eddie Howlett Holston. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, Rayo was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Gregory and Mildred Wheatley, and one brother, Paul Holston.

Surviving are his two sons, Daniel Holston (Katie) of Waxhaw, N.C. and Chris Holston (Hannah) of Charlotte, N.C.;  one daughter, Susan Baker of Virginia; a special friend, Nancy Campbell of Kernersville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Iris and Roan Holston,  Justin Baker (Jessica), Erynn Baker, Kari Clay, and “Baby Holston,” due soon; two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Taylor Baker; one brother, Wally Holston, and one sister, Beveridge Hall.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.  A memorial service will follow at Comfort Inn in Dublin between 2 and 4 p.m. Friday.  An additional memorial service will be held at VFW Post on The Plaza in Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday, April 21 from 2-6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to The Elks National Foundation – Charlotte Elks, 5118 Princess Street, Charlotte, NC 28209 (memo: Scholarship Foundation).

    Nancy, I just found out about Rayo’s passing. I am so sorry. I really enjoyed our visit when you all stopped by King to see me. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Ann Koch
