Cougar 7th grade AAU team wins tournament

The 7th grade AAU Cougar basketball team won another tournament this weekend, as they came from behind to take first place in the Pulaski County Lady Cougars Superbowl Bash.

The day started off rough for the middle schoolers, as they dropped both of their first two games.  In game one they fell to the Rural Retreat Wolverines by a score of 32-26.  Game two wasn’t much easier, as they fell to the Virginia Sonics 45-41.

Stuck in the bottom bracket and forced to fight their way back to the championship rounds, the Cougars beat Rural Retreat in a rematch, 45-30.  With a little momentum going their way, the Cougars braced for another rematch, this time against the Sonics in the Championship game.  It was a back and forth game, but in the end the Cougars came out on top 48-46 to take home the trophy.  This is the third tournament championship for the seventh grade Cougars, who are a part of and organized by the Pulaski County Fastbreak Club.
