Cougar 6th grade AAU earns second place

On February 2 the 6th grade AAU Cougar basketball team were the runners up of the Lady Cougar Super Bowl Bash held at PCHS.  The Cougars finished the tournament with a 3-1 record defeating teams from Vinton, Staunton River and Covington.

The Cougars head coach is former PCHS standout CJ Burgis.  In his second year with the team Coach Burgis has pushed his charges to play tough man to man defense, apply full court pressure and play an overall up tempo style which is Cougar basketball.   The Cougars started the season slow but after buying into Coach Burgis’s plan the Cougars have improved every week to push their overall record to 8-8.

The team would like to thank JR Montgomery and Shay Dunnigan for their time ‘opening the gym’.  They would also like to thank the PC Fastbreak Club for the opportunities the club has afforded the team.
