An 83-year-old Carroll County woman died Thursday evening after being involved in a two-vehicle collision on Route 100 in Dublin.

Dublin Police Department Lt. Dennis Lambert said the woman was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m. at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she was airlifted to following the 4:15 p.m. wreck.

Identities of those involved in the wreck are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and completion of the investigation.

Thursday afternoon, Lambert said a witness traveling in a tractor-trailer behind the Carroll County woman’s 2001 Buick indicated she was northbound in the right lane when she attempted to make a left turn into a median crossover from the right lane. A 1999 Dodge pickup truck traveling in the left northbound lane collided with the driver side of the woman’s vehicle as she made the turn.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was from Radford, wasn’t injured.

The wreck occurred at the Fourth Street intersection with Route 100. The investigation is continuing.
