James Franklin (Doc) Holliday

James Franklin (Doc) Holliday, age 68 of Pulaski, died Monday morning April 13, 2009 at Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born October 14, 1940 in Radford, and was the son of the late Loretta Arthur Holliday. He was a retired employee of Verizon Telephone Company with 35 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Memorial Baptist Church where his love was to sing in the choir. He was a high school football official for over twenty years, was a railroad enthusiast and was heavily involved with the Raymond Ratcliff Memorial Museum. He enjoyed exercising with the rehab group in the local YMCA, and was a charter member of the coffee club at Master Chef. He was a life member of the Pulaski County Life Saving Crew, and served on various committees of Pulaski Town Council. With his many accomplishments, nothing was more important than being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Louise Bradbury Holliday of Pulaski; his children Anita Atkins and her husband Jerry of Pilot Mt., N.C., Paul Holliday and his wife Karon of Lewisville, NC, Jean Lippard and her husband Jim of Daniels, WVA, and Sharon Collins and her husband Buddy of Trigg. Also survived by his grandchildren Amanda White, Jennifer Atkins, Jamie Atkins, and Jesse Atkins all of Pilot Mt., N.C., Bridgett Saliba of Winston Salem, Lagan Lippard, Jesse Lippard, Ardis Lippard, and Ryan Lippard of Daniels, WVA, Shannon Collins of Pulaski, Evan Collins of Trigg; one great-granddaughter, Ambrin White of Pilot Mt., NC., mother-in-law, Edna Epperly Bradbury of Blacksburg; a favorite Aunt, Dorothy Epperly of Blacksburg along with many friends and extended family. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lones officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be anytime Wednesday after 4:00 p.m. at Thomas M.
