The American Red Cross is seeking blood donations from those willing and able across the New River Valley and in so doing, the donors could also earn some prizes.
This Friday, the Red Cross will be accepting donations at Dublin Baptist Church from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. They also will have a drive on Monday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church from noon. to 6 p.m.

When donors stop at one of these locations, they will receive a free American Red Cross t-shirt for donating blood.
Sandy Myers with the Red Cross says the main needs for blood types at this time are O-positive and O-negative because they are at critical levels. However, all blood types are needed all the time.
Donors should be at least 16 years old with parental permission or 17 and older without parental permission. They must also weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, and it must have been at least 56 days since their last donation. Forms for donations are available at the blood drives.
Myers also encourages donors to set up an account at www.redcrossracing.com. Whenever they donate, they can make a report on their account that they have done so and earn prizes, including NASCAR gear featuring driver Greg Biffle.
The Red Cross will also give away flip flops in July and August to those who donate.
