The engine of a train sustained about $150,000 in damage late Thursday when it experienced a problem and caught fire.

Pulaski Fire Marshal Chip Hutchinson said firefighters responded to the fire at the Monte Vista railroad crossing behind Food City around midnight Thursday. He said railroad personnel indicated the train engine “blew up,” sparking the fire.
Hutchinson said the engine also was “belching out oil all the way from Dublin to Pulaski before it got stopped.”
Emergency services was out until about 4 a.m. cleaning up the oil and handling the fire.
