The public is invited to attend a special memorial service this Sunday to honor and remember deceased members of the Pulaski Elks Lodge.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk Pulaski Lodge 1067 sets aside the first Sunday in December each year to “gather and freshen the love and tender memories we share with our departed lodge brothers.”
The event will be held Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. at the lodge hall at 10 West Main St. in Pulaski.
This year, Ed Houseman, Mike Poore, H.A. Turner, Bill Lineberry, Gerald Gaffney and Sherman Cain will be added to the rolls of Absent Lodge Members.
The lodge, established in 1907, moved from rented space in the Maple Shade Hotel to its Main Street location in 1910.
In 2010, the lodge will become one of the few lodges to exceed 100 years in operation in its original location.
According to Lodge Secretary Gary Cox, “the building and the Elks have historical significance and a tradition of serving and honoring the citizens of Pulaski. From wars, epidemics, economic hardships, and celebrations the Pulaski Lodge has witnessed, served, and endured.”
Seating for the ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m.
For more information or directions, contact Exalted Ruler Jim Chitwood at 320-5013, or Cox at 980-8037.
