Is Town of Pulaski going Hollywood?

The Town of Pulaski may soon be in the movies.
No. It’s not going to be the backdrop for a Hollywood production. Instead, it would be the subject of a series of “movies” designed to attract visitors, businesses and even new residents to the town.

A potential agreement with CGI Communications Inc. for a “Community Movie Tour Book” is among new items of business to be discussed at the next Pulaski Town Council meeting.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. in council chambers on the second floor of the Pulaski Municipal Building on First Street.
According to CGI’s website, the Rochester, N.Y. company was formed in 1988 and is “built on delivering high-impact marketing and promotional products …” The company states that it offers video production services ranging from scriptwriting to hosting of the videos via its server.
Links to the videos, which would highlight various aspects of the community, would be provided on the town’s website, www.pulaskitown.org.
Area communities in which CGI has “ongoing projects” include Christiansburg, Radford, Culpeper, Salem and Vinton.
Other items on the agenda Tuesday include:
n Presentation of the December Employee 0f the Month award;
n Public hearing on a zoning amendment;
n Update from Pulaski Community Partners Coalition;
n Public comment period;
n Updates on the Southeast Revitalization Grant and the Museum Operating Committee;
n Discussion of information on two-traffic roundabouts, which the town may need to install at the intersection of Third, Main and Duncan streets if Main Street traffic is returned to two way;
n Appointments to various committees and boards;
n A funding request for a Virginia Municipal League and Virginia Association of Counties AEP Steering Committee; and
n Discussion of a Virginia Resources Association loan for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Sewer Rehabilitation Project.
