A 14-year-old juvenile has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat at a Carroll County school a week ago.

According to Sheriff H. Warren Manning, information received by school resource officers and school officials led police to question and subsequently arrest a juvenile in the Nov. 6 threat at Carroll County Intermediate School.
Authorities said the juvenile is being held in detention on charges of communicating a bomb threat and possession/manufacture or distribution of a weapon of terrorism or hoax devise.
Manning cited the cooperation of school officials and numerous federal and state agencies in the department’s ability to reach a quick resolution to the case. He said it is his hope “the serious and swift response will be a deterrent to anything of this nature happening again.”
Agencies assisting with the case included Carroll County EMS, Hillsville Police Department, Virginia State Police, Virginia HazMat Team, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, U.S. Postal Service, the FBI, and the Carroll County Health Department.
