Three Virginia law enforcement agencies are joining with several other sponsors to hold a motorcycle ride Saturday, Nov. 7 to benefit a charity foundation named in honor of two Virginia Tech students murdered in August.

Proceeds from the ride and associated raffles and silent auction will go to the Metzler and Childs Foundation and then be divided between Campus Crusade for Christ and Operation Smile.
A spokeswoman for the event said Heidi Lynn Childs and David Lee Metzler were members of Campus Crusade. Operation Smile is a children’s charity that provides doctors to treat facial deformities, such as cleft palates, around the world.
The ride, which will be held rain or shine, begins with breakfast at 8 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, 219 Breezewood Drive in Lynchburg. It ends with lunch and a silent auction at Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Christiansburg at 1 p.m.
The bike ride starts at 10 a.m. Riders will take Route 460 West to the Blue Ridge Parkway, then take Route 8 into Christiansburg. Raffles will be held throughout the day.
Cost is $20 per person.
The event is sponsored by Lynchburg Police Helping hands Foundation, Southern States PBA Blue Ridge Chapter, Virginia State Police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
