VDOT to hold hearing on Route 61 bridge

NARROWS – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing Thursday, Nov. 5, on plans to replace the Route 61 bridge over the New River in Narrows.
The bridge will be replaced using funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The hearing will be held 5-7 p.m. at the Narrows Community Center, 110 Mary St. in Narrows. It will be an “open house” format with no formal presentation given.
Project plans will be available for public review any time between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. that evening. VDOT staff also will be available to answer questions about the project.
Written comments may be submitted at the meeting or by mail until Sunday, Nov. 15. Mailed comments should be sent to Mr. Richard L. Caywood P.E., Virginia Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 3071, Salem, VA 24153.
