A Carroll County woman injured Wednesday in a head-on collision with a dump truck has died.

According to Virginia State Police First Sgt. Mike Honaker, Violetta P. Quesenberry, 81, of Piney Fork Road in Dugspur died Thursday evening at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Honaker said Quesenberry was northbound on Route 100 (Wysor Road) when the 1996 Chevrolet Beretta she was driving veered into the southbound lane, striking a 2001 Peterbilt dump truck head-on. The 8:10 a.m. wreck occurred a tenth mile south of Route 654 (Old Baltimore Road) in Pulaski County.
Police said the driver of the truck, Carol M. Farmer, 39, of Grandview Drive in Max Meadows, was not injured.
Honaker said, “Trooper E. P. Ellison’s preliminary investigation of this crash indicates that the Chevrolet Beretta veered across the center of the roadway into the oncoming lane of the dump-truck where the impact occurred. Our investigation also revealed that Ms. Quesenberry was wearing a seat belt and the driver’s side air bag in her vehicle also deployed during the crash.”
He said the State Police Regional Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting Ellison with the investigation, which may take about 30 days to complete.
