Mrs. Helen T. Parks started life anew on the evening of Aug. 17, 2014 when she said goodbye to this earthly life and began her new life in heaven.
Born in Wytheville, Va., Aug. 1, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Polly Turman Tilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Parks, daughters, Brenda P. Martin and Connie Day, siblings, David Tilson, Lillian Mae Tilson, Rubye Spellings and Della Tilson and her grandson, Scott C. Jones.
Mrs. Parks was a faithful member of the Bob White Boulevard Church of God, Pulaski. The last several years of her life, when able to attend church, she was very active in the ladies quilting group in which many beautiful quilts were made and sold at the Lord’s Acre Sale every year. Her first job when coming to Pulaski from the Wytheville area was at the former Maple Shade Inn. She was retired from the Radford Arsenal. She was an avid homemaker and neighbors, friends and family always looked forward to her butterscotch pies and coconut cakes.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Betty Frazier of Pulaski, Va., and Patricia P. Young and her husband Richard of Blacksburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Lisa F. Brewer and husband, Stacy, of Austin, Texas, Bradley Frazier of Aurora, N.Y., Michelle Kitts and husband, J.B., of Canton, Ga., Tammie O’Dell of Pulaski, Va., Lori Hale of Pulaski, Va., and Natasha Wall and husband, Donnie, of Pulaski, Va.; 16 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren, and son-in-law, Howard Martin of Pulaski, Va.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. from the Church of God (the Refreshing Center), Bobwhite Blvd with the Rev. Jerry Collins and the Rev. J.B. Kitts officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 5-7pm. Burial will be Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va.

The Family will be meeting at the home of her daughter, Betty Frazier, 4604 Old Stage Road, Pulaski, Va.
