A public meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, to gauge the community’s feelings on the use of Dublin Primary School property for an adult day care and fall prevention center.
Anthony Akers, interim assistant county administrator, said the Dublin Primary School site is being considered as an alternative to the former Newbern Elementary School site if new construction is required for an adult day care and fall prevention center.
He said renovation of Newbern Elementary School for the center is going to cost more than new construction. The Dublin Primary site would require less grading than Newbern, plus water and sewer are already in place there.
The advantage of new construction is that the building can be designed as needed instead of trying to retrofit an old building to meet needs of the adult day care and fall prevention center, said Akers. The “con” to building anew is that it will take longer for the facility to be ready for use.
Tuesday night’s meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Free Memorial Library, 300 Giles Ave. in Dublin.
