A West Virginia man was airlifted to a Roanoke hospital Tuesday after the truck in which he was riding ran off Highland Road, hitting a tree.
Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jeff Saunders said 50-year-old William Elswick sustained head injuries in the 10:07 a.m. single-vehicle wreck in the 6200 block of Highland Road. Elswick was transported by REMSI to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and then was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial.
According to Carilion spokesman Eric Earnhart, Elswick was listed in good condition at the Roanoke facility this morning.
Elswick was a passenger in a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Curtis Dotson of West Virginia. Dotson wasn’t injured, but he was charged with failure to maintain control of the truck, said Saunders.
Deputy Derick Burton is investigating the crash.
