Southern rock will be coming to Jackson Park this Friday, Aug. 1, as Stone Canyon will be the next featured performer in the Jackson Park concert series, hosted by the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley (FACNRV).
Stone Canyon is an adult contemporary band whose trademarks are a mixture of vocal harmonies and outstanding musicianship, according to FACNRV Executive Director Judy Ison. Their sets cover a wide variety of styles, including the music of the Eagles, Crosby-Stills-Nash, America and many others.
Stone Canyon concerts are always upbeat and positive, and the crowd usually finds themselves singing along once the show begins, Ison said.
Stone Canyon consists of Jeff Snyder on lead guitar, pedal steel guitar, mandolin, and vocals, Mike Whitlow on guitars, harmonica, percussion and vocals, keyboardist and vocalist Ken Nicely, bassist and vocalist Jimmy Stone, and drummer and vocalist Ron Hall.
The concert series is co-sponsored by the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley and the Town of Pulaski, and concerts are held in Jackson Park located across from the municipal building from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. They are free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
Donna Jones and Main Street Bistro will be providing concessions as well as great homemade food. The Pulaski Theatre is the rain location for the concert series, and times will remain the same.
