Spaces are still available in New River Community College’s preparatory summer camp for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), the standardized test that measures reading, writing and math skills prior to college. The camp is being offered at NRCC in Dublin from Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 1. Classes will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The camp will include explanations and reviews of test topics along with math and verbal drills. Helpful hints, tips and shortcuts will also be provided to help students cover all SAT material more quickly.
Suzanne Steele and John Duncan will instruct the course. Steele is a retired English teacher from Pulaski County High School and has taught SAT Prep classes for over 20 years. Duncan has taught at Pulaski County High School for 30 years and is currently teaching at Wytheville Community College and NRCC.
Tuition is $182. Textbook fees of $45 are payable at the first class meeting. Students are also advised to bring a graphing calculator to the class.
Those interested in registering for the SAT summer camp may contact NRCC’s Office of Workforce Development at 540-674-3600, ext. 4323.
