Officers responded to a call concerning a suspicious substance found at Harvey’s Collision Center earlier today, according Lt. Andy Wilburn with the Radford City Police Department.
The substance was found inside the bumper of a car brought in for repairs at the business, located on Tyler Ave. in Radford at about 10:30 this morning. The Radford City Police, along with the Virginia State Police and FBI responded shortly after to investigate the finding, Wilburn said.
Wilburn was unable to comment on the appearance and consistency of the substance, although he said officers at the scene suspected it to be drug or explosive related before testing it.
Testing performed at the scene could not identify the substance. VSP and FBI personnel took it to be destroyed afterward.
Employees and Harvey’s Collison Center were sent home as a precaution.
