RADFORD — Radford City police are seeking the public’s help for information in fires they believe to have been intentionally set at separate vacant houses Sunday morning.

Police, fire and emergency medical units were dispatched to a house fire at 524 Clement St. around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a press release from Radford City Police Department. The first units on the scene found the north side of the house engulfed in flames.

While on the scene of that fire, officers noticed items on the carport of a house at 530 Clement St. were burning and that house was beginning to catch fire as well.

Entry was gained to both houses and both were found to be unoccupied. While the first structure sustained “extensive” damage, there was no major structural damage at 530 Clement St.

“Both fires are believed to be intentionally set, but neither house had anyone living in them,” the press release states.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone having information on the fires is asked to email investigations@radford.va.us, call Radford City Police Department at 731-3624 or use the Radford Police Tip Line, 731-5040.
