Pulaski man guilty of having child porn

A 41-year-old Pulaski man is awaiting sentencing after being convicted of 12 counts of possessing child pornography.

A Pulaski County Circuit Court judge convicted Terry Lee Hall of the charges after Hall entered no contest pleas. By pleading no contest (nolo contendere) Hall didn’t admit guilt, but rather acknowledged evidence would be sufficient for a finding of guilt if the case went to trial.

According to Pulaski County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mike Fleenor, Pulaski Police Department became involved in the case when an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) team notified officers child pornography was being sent to Hall’s home in south Pulaski.

Based on that information, local authorities obtained a search warrant for Hall’s property and seized computers, equipment and discs.

“The evidence was forwarded to the State Police who analyzed the information contained on the computer and the discs,” Fleenor said. He noted photos of young nude males were found and “obscene names were attached to the files of these illegal photos.  Additional obscene names were used in email addresses that Hall used to communicate with others who viewed these materials.”

Fleenor said Hall admitted during interviews with authorities that he downloaded the child pornography “at the suggestion of a friend but that he didn’t like it and never did it again.”

Hall couldn’t explain why the images had been saved on CDs found in his room, according to Fleenor.

A background report on Hall was requested prior to sentencing, which is set for Oct. 31 at 9:30 a.m.

Hall is being held without bond at New River Valley Regional Jail, where he has been incarcerated since he was indicted on the charges in April.
