Radford City Police are currently investigating a possible drowning after a man was found dead in the New River early Sunday evening.
The man, identified as Kelly Floyd Marshall, 41, of Pulaski, was found in the New River west of the train trestle around 6:40 p.m., according to a news release from the Radford Police Department.
Witnesses at the scene said Marshall went underwater while attempting to walk across the river, submerging near the center.
Emergency personnel responded to the area where Marshall disappeared at about 5:30 p.m., finding him nearly an hour later. The Radford City Fire Department and members of REMSI located the man, with some help from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, according to the release.
The body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke. The case is still under investigation, but no foul play is currently suspected.
