Three Pulaski residents were among 10 New River Community College students who completed practical nursing program requirements. They received certificates Friday during a pinning ceremony held in Edwards Hall on the Dublin campus.
Pulaski residents receiving certificates were Laura Beth O’Neal, Sierra Ann Saunders and Paul Douglas Turpin.
All of the students are now eligible to take the Virginia Board of Nursing examination to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). The three-semester certificate program qualifies them to become “contributing members of a health team” so that they can render care in a variety of health service facilities.
Other program graduates who received pins were Manoj Kumar Acharya of Blacksburg, Carla Cristobal Gaviola of Christiansburg, Christy Lynn Harman of Christiansburg, Cierra Nicole Harris of Shawsville, Danielle Harris of Riner, Alicia Faith Ketch of Blacksburg and Kim Nguyen of Blacksburg.
Gaviola was chosen by her peers to give the graduation address and Ketch led the nurses in reciting the Florence Nightingale Pledge.
